Prof. Zhouxiang Ji earned his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Science from The Ohio State University in 2019 under the supervision of National Academy of Inventors Fellow Prof. Peixuan Guo. His dissertation centered on engineering DNA-packaging phage motor nanopores for single-protein sensing. After graduation he joined the BGI Group in Shenzhen to translate DNA sequencing technologies into clinical products. In 2023 he returned to academia and established the Single-Molecule Biosensing Laboratory at Xidian University.
The Ji lab is building a next-generation biological nanopore platform that integrates structural biology, protein engineering, and machine learning for point-of-care and precision-medicine applications. Current research threads include:
De-novo design and directed evolution of pore-forming proteins
Single-molecule sensing of nucleic acids, proteins, and metabolites
AI-assisted signal processing and portable-device development for POCT
We are recruiting trainees and collaborators who share our interdisciplinary vision.
